Kim

Kim - MS Queensland Customer

In December 2021, Kim had turned 31 and was enjoying her new life on the Gold Coast after moving to sunny Queensland from regional Victoria. Kim was preparing to return home for the Christmas holidays when tingling in both hands created concern. It wasn’t long before Kim had received her MS diagnosis.

“One of the first things that I did as soon as I got my diagnosis was reach out to MS Queensland and I put my hand up and say, I’ve got this diagnosis – What does it mean? What can I do? How can you help?”

Since connecting with MS Queensland, Kim has been able to access a range of services available to her, thanks to the generous fundraising and donations from the MS Community, including specialist nursing support and NDIS access.

“The biggest difference in my life now is that I am enjoying life more than I was a year ago. “

Emily

Emily was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) at the age of 17. She had been experiencing symptoms such as walking difficulties and problems with her vision since she was 12 years old. But following an episode of losing her vision entirely, she was given an MRI scan, which showed, multiple lesions on her brain and spine.

“MS Queensland has connected me to some wonderful health professionals who have advocated for me at every turn. They immediately corrected some of my misconceptions and connected me with an amazing psychologist who helped me begin processing and reframing what was happening.”

Since connecting with MS Queensland, Emily has been able to pursue her passion for special education with confidence. With the support of MS Queensland’s specialist employment consultants, she has successfully adapted her working conditions—allowing her to thrive in her career. Thanks to this support, Emily just had her most successful year at work yet!

“I’m at my happiest – and that’s because I’ve finally tapped into the services, I need… “

We are deeply grateful to you for choosing to continue to support people living with MS and other neurological conditions.
